Founded in Columbus, IN in 1985 by Gary Hill, Mark Hege and Bill Runion, ABC relocated to Indianapolis in 1988. Gary Hill led the company through the beginning stages before transitioning leadership to Mark Hege and Bill Runion. In 2021 ABC finished construction on a new state-of-the-art facility in Whiteland, IN.
Since its founding, ABC Cutting has been a family-owned and operated business. Our leadership are field-tested, having spent time doing the work, embracing a safety-first mentality and a commitment to reliable, flexible, and convenient service.
Now transitioning into the third generation of leadership, Cody Hege and Drew Runion are posed to uphold ABC Cutting’s legacy as a safety-first segment leader.

OUR LEADERSHIP TEAM
Cody Hege
President
From a young age, Cody showed interest in concrete cutting and learning about the industry alongside his father. In 2003 he joined ABC Cutting and mastered every tool on the job.
After years in the field, Cody transitioned to a superintendent and sales role, assisting the company’s growth and tackling complex projects. Now his main focus is delivering exceptional results for projects of all sizes.
Cody, a passionate outdoorsman, and his wife, Rikki, have been married since 2010 and have two children.
Drew Runion
Vice President
Growing up around ABC Cutting’s offices, Drew learned from his father and uncle, gaining hands-on experience with the tools of the trade.
Drew earned both a BA in marketing and an MBA from Anderson University. After working in the defense industry, he joined ABC in 2010 as the human resources manager and EEO officer, focusing on employee success.
A dedicated sports fan, Drew and his wife, Claire, married in 2011. They have three children.
MARK HEGE
President Emeritus
Mark founded ABC Cutting in 1985 after training in Atlanta, Miami and on the famous Panama Canal project.
As president, Mark oversees daily operations and 70+ employees doing work throughout Indiana and surrounding states. Mark’s leadership over the years have been invaluable to the growth and longevity of ABC Cutting Contractors. With a “service when you need it” approach, Mark prioritizes safety, building relationships with manufacturers and industry peers to enhance safety standards.
Mark and his wife Tammy were married in 1980 and share a passion for show cattle. They have three adult children and six grandchildren.
Bill Runion
Vice President Emeritus
Bill joined his brother and father-in-law at ABC Cutting in 1986, training on all the equipment, operating a saw, and overseeing company work, simultaneously.
Bill continued to focus on job site safety as vice president and safety director. He serves as one of our two OSHA 501 trainers and works to expand employee safety training. Bill also devotes time to building relationships with customers, personnel, and vendors.
Bill, a passionate golfer, and his wife, Jackie, have been married since 1983 and have two adult children and six grandchildren.
